Plots
Plots are either full plots or half plots governed by a set of
rules and regulations set by the Committee. Plot holders
are expected to adhere to these rules and regs and to
report any concerns or problems that may arise to the
Committee. Plot inspections take place three times a year
and the site maintenance team (SMT) help maintain the
overall site keeping it in good condition for your
enjoyment and safety. There is a Risk Assessment that the
Committee ask you to read for your safety while on site.

Brookfield Allotments is a cherished community green
space where local residents come together to grow their
own fruits, vegetables, and flowers. Established to
promote sustainable living and provide an opportunity
for people to enjoy gardening regardless of their home
size, the allotments offer individual plots that members
can cultivate throughout the year. The site is often
buzzing with activity, from the quiet tending of plants to
friendly chats among neighbours, creating a strong sense
of community and shared purpose.
Beyond gardening, Brookfield Allotments plays an
important role in supporting biodiversity and
environmental awareness. Many plot holders use organic
methods, encourage pollinators, and share surplus
produce through local food initiatives. Seasonal events,
such as seed swaps, open days, help connect the wider
community and inspire others to get involved in growing
their own food. The allotments stand as a local example of
how green spaces can nurture both people and nature.
The Brookfield Allotments is a self-managed site leased
from the London Borough of Waltham Forest, with a
management Committee.

The bid for lottery money has been submitted! It is
now a waiting game (up to 12 weeks before we
hear if we have been successful). The bid is for
seating, benches, and fixed tables on site and the
meadow. Sculptures for the community, bat boxes,
owl boxes and bat detection devices. The
Committee are working in partnership with The
Highams Park Planning Group and The Ching
Action Group (who will also provide volunteers
for some of the work). Thank you Margaret
Almond, Alastair Thomas and Dave Hawkins for
your hard work on this project.
